Community Engagement Core
The purpose of the Community Engagement Core (CEC) is to overcome and remove barriers that exist to creating and supporting respectful, bidirectional partnerships between communities and research teams, through consultation (one-time and ongoing); core service provision for community-based data collection; and facilitated access to community input. CEC services will support research teams in 1) planning for, establishing, and supporting community partnerships; 2) planning for and conducting culturally responsive and/or multilingual data collection; and 3) accessing and incorporating community input into study plans and activities, through creation of a Community Consultation Group.
The CEC aims to facilitate:
- The expansion of innovative programs of community-engaged research to equitably improve health for all children and families
- Enhancing existing expertise and expand research infrastructure through core resources supportive of community-engaged research for children
- Supporting the success of early career investigators committed to addressing disparities in pediatric healthcare through providing in-kind research management services
- Decreasing barriers to accessing and integrating community input into research
