On Saturday, October 28, Seattle Children’s honored Wizards of the Coast for their $5M commitment to Seattle Children’s Magnuson by naming the Autism Center registration area and main waiting room. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting and tours of Magnuson, which opened last year and was fully funded by philanthropy.
After the celebration, the Autism Center hosted their annual Halloween event, attended by more than 500 clinic patients and their families, featuring Wizards cosplayers, trick-or-treating, themed activities and more.
“The generous philanthropy efforts of Wizards of the Coast support some of our most innovative and creative initiatives related to community outreach and training, building our capacity to serve more patients and families, and improving our systems to deliver more equitable patient care,” said Mendy Minjarez, executive director of Seattle Children’s Autism Center.
Seattle Children’s Autism Center is nationally known for innovative research and high-quality care for families throughout the Pacific Northwest. Along with providing therapy programs, the Autism Center team focuses on helping patients build on their strengths, manage change, and foster social skills. These tools are a lifeline for kids with autism, who can otherwise withdraw if their routines are changed — events that can increase the risk of mental and behavioral health issues like anxiety or depression.
