Gifts of Service and One-Time Opportunities
Thank you for your generous offer and interest in helping us. It is through individuals and volunteer groups that we are able to provide positive experiences, directly or indirectly, that promote a child’s ability to cope with their healthcare experience and make their hospital stay more enjoyable. Thank you for thinking of our patients and inquiring about ways that you can help. Here are some options for you to consider:
Playroom Craft, Activity or Entertainment
Our Playroom provides a place to have fun, safe, supportive play and social interaction. We welcome your creativity in proposing a visit which will provide our patients with a unique and memorable activity. Small groups under five people (18 years and older) can provide and assist in an activity during one of our playroom sessions. This opportunity is coordinated through our Child Life Department.
Hospital Grounds
Seattle Children’s is committed to providing a healing environment for patients and visitors, including awakening the senses through the cultivation of a lush landscape across the hospital grounds. More than 2,000 species and varietals of trees and plants thrive on our grounds. Just like our patients, these plants and trees are diverse – some are very rare. A minimum of three and a maximum of 15 people can assist our Grounds staff with various projects surrounding the hospital campus.
Toy Drives or Making Items to Donate
Groups can enjoy working together by collecting and donating items from our wish list.
One item we have a great need for is blankets. Blankets bring much comfort and are often a cherished item. We repeatedly hear stories where they are kept for years as a keepsake. It is our goal that each child who is admitted to the hospital overnight will receive one.
