"My favorite part about hematology is how one size does not "fit all". The same disorder can present differently in each patient. For example, in acute ITP, it is not just the platelet count but also their entire story including bleeding symptoms and effect on quality of life, that determine the best treatment for that patient at that time. Management is always individualized to the patient."

  • Biography

    Dr. Rida Hasan is a pediatric hematologist at Seattle Children's Hospital and an associate medical director for the Transfusion Services Laboratories at UW Medical Center - Montlake and Harborview Medical Center. She originally completed her training in pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship where she focused on patients with bleeding and clotting disorders.  Her interest in transfusion medicine and coagulation led to her completing an additional fellowship in Transfusion Medicine. She spends most of her time overseeing the transfusion services laboratory and is involved in the education of residents.
